The Rustem Pasha Mosque, built by Mimar Sinan with the most proportional and attractive decoration, is distinguished by its impressive architecture with its tiles, despite its small size. And even in 2003 it was named the most beautiful mosque in Europe. The mosque, whose construction was completed in 1563, was built by Mimar Sinan, in honor of Damat Rustam Pasha, who was the minister of Suleiman the Magnificent and the husband of his daughter Mihrimah Sultan. The rectangular mosque is built on four feet and elephant pillars with central dome arches. Later, arches, columns, a wooden roof and eaves were added in front of it. The lavender-patterned tiles in the Rustem Pasha Mosque, which are tiled on all sides up to the skirts of the dome, are very impressive. Because this tulip patterned tile is one of the most successful examples of Ottoman court art.
