The Sharifi Grand Mosque of Hagia Sophia, one of the most important buildings symbolizing Istanbul, with its architecture and historical significance defying the years. It is visited by millions of locals and foreigners every year before as a museum for many years, it was converted into a mosque after it was withdrawn from its status as a museum as of July 24, 2020, at the initiative of President Erdogan. Then millions flocked to Hagia Sophia to see this magnificent building. It was built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I between 532-537 as a basilica and cathedral in the center of the old city on the historical peninsula of Istanbul. The structure of Hagia Sophia, which Sultan Mehmet Han the Conqueror converted into a mosque after the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, was intact and even preserved with great care. The mosaics containing human figures in the building were not destroyed; Those that do not contain it are left as is.
