The magnificent Jamil Pasha Palace, one of the most prominent examples of civic architecture in the city, was built in 1888 as a private residence, the fact that the Jamil Pasha family participated in societies that would cast a shadow over our struggle for independence, such as the Sheikh Said rebellion, led to the Exile them after the end of the war, and confiscate all their property by the state. Although the fortress is submerged in water, it is one of the rare structures open on all four sides. The building, which serves as a school and institution, underwent various restoration works that lasted for 4 years in 2010 and was opened to visitors as Diyarbakir City Museum, with 500 documents and 450 collections. For black and white photography, 235 artifacts, and 260 research works, the museum is among the most comprehensive on the history of Diyarbakir.
