Cahit Sitki Taranci Museum, organized for the Diyarbakir-born poet in a palace, built in 1733, this palace witnessed the birth and childhood of Cahit Sitki Taranci. There are 14 rooms in the building and basalt stone was used in the construction of the building, as is the case in many palaces in the city. The palace was purchased from the poet’s family in 1973 and was restored and opened as a museum in 1974.
