Diyarbakir Archaeological Museum dates back to 1934 and the museum was opened for the first time in the Zansiriya Madrasah, the works displayed here for many years were moved to the current building in 1985 and opened to visitors in 1993. The museum displays many important relics from prehistoric times to periods Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman, which were obtained during excavations in Diyarbakir and its surroundings, among these works there are very important works, such as Roman sculptures, Byzantine sarcophagi, Assyrian cuneiform models, there are more than 10,000 works in total in the museum.
