The Monastery of Mar Behnam (The Forty), which was built in 539 AD, consists of two impressive floors. According to one story, it was built in memory of Mor Behnam and his murdered brother after Mor Behnam was murdered because he took his sick brother to Mor Matai. According to another version, it is known as the Kirklar Church because it is the place where the bones of 40 Christians who were killed during the Roman occupation are buried.
