The building that houses the Sakip Sabanci Mardin City Museum and Dilek Sabanci Art Gallery, built during World War II, was built as a cavalry barracks in 1889 by the governor of Diyarbakir, Haji Hasan Pasha, during the reign of Abdülhamid and served in this way for many years. The architecture of the building is the Armenian Sarkis Elias Luli and it was constructed of two floors, it is entered from the door in the south direction.
