The Church of the Virgin Mary and the historic Patriarchate is located in the Midyat district of Mardin, and it consists of two separate buildings as a church and a patriarchate. The church was built by Patriarch Antoine Samhairi in 1860, and the Patriarch was built by Ignatius Behnam Behni, Patriarch of Antioch in 1895. When we look at the history of buildings with similar architecture in the city, we can say that the Church of the Virgin Mary, which was built on a 2000-year-old monument, is a much younger building, the building that was restored by the Ministry of Culture, has been serving as a museum since 1995 with the building next door for him.
