The tobacco pier is where Ataturk and his eighteen companions set out for Samsun for the War of Independence. This pier was rearranged on May 19, 2009. There are ceramic reliefs and small decorative basins representing Ataturk and his friends on this road, which is 400 meters long and 45 meters wide. As there are statues of Ataturk and his companions on the sidewalk, the area has been turned into an open-air museum.
