Izzet Koyonoglu is one of the important names of Konya, as he achieved great success in the liberation struggle at the state level, he was born in 1900 and has accumulated valuable cultural and ethnographic objects since 1913, after his retirement he donated his collection to the Konya municipality in 1973, the foundations of the museum building were laid in 1977 and after Classification of Works Granted Works on display in the museum that opened in his name began on February 2, 1984. There is a library, Anatolian civilizations, an ethnography department, a calligraphy department, an archive and natural history department in the museum which has a beautiful courtyard.
