The Ali and Nino statue, built in Batumi in 2010, is inspired by the romance novel of Kurban Saïd, first published in Vienna in 1937. The novel depicts a dramatic love story between citizens of two warring nations with different religions and cultures. Designed by Tbilisi sculptor Tamara Kvitadze, this statue works with a mechanism, this is the story of the two lovers.
