It is mentioned that the year of construction of the castle was 1508 during the Beyazid period. It was built to protect Çeşme which was under constant threat as it was an important port in the past. Especially after the attack of the Venetians in 1472, the Ottomans paid close attention to the defense of Cheshme and it was decided that it would be appropriate to build the castle soon. The castle was severely damaged in the war between the Ottomans and Russia in 1770 and was later repaired.
