The Jazira Mosque, the building that served as a church until 639, began to be used as a mosque after the adoption of Islam on the island. The construction of the mosque dates back to 1155 and underwent major repairs in 1203 and 1284. The most striking point of the building, which was converted into a mosque during the reign of Umar, is the door handle in the shape of a dragon and can be seen in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, which was located in Istanbul Since 1976. These door knobs were made by the scientist Ebol Ezz who lived in the Seljuk era, two other knobs of these door knobs were stolen and moved abroad in 1969 and they are currently on display in the David Samlig Museum in Copenhagen.
