Because of its architectural structure, the bridge, which is not clearly known, was built in what year, is believed to have been built in Roman times, as there is no inscription on it. It was built of cut stone and rubble. Due to the high water level, only the upper part of the bridge, which remained submerged in water, remained visible. The people of the area called the bridge this name for this reason. It was reconstructed and finally appeared in 1965. The bridge is the only Roman-era bridge in Amasya.
