It was built in 1584, built by Mimar Sinan by Iskender Pasha. It stands out as one of the important works completed during the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim, one of the most powerful sultans of the Ottoman Empire. The mosque, which was restored and later expanded by his son Suleiman the Magnificent, is one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman architecture.
