A two-story library from the Ionian period. It is listed on the World Heritage List and is a rectangular formation surrounded by large arches. It is reported that there were approximately 14,000 books in it. The building served as a library and memorial to the tomb. When Celsius, the governor of Ephesus, died in 106, his son built the library as a monument in the name of his father. The sarcophagus of Silesius is located under the librarys west wall. Its façade was restored between 1970-1980. In the library, scrolls of books were hidden in niches in the walls. It was built by the Asian consul Julius Aguila by the Roman architect Vitruia in AD 135. 60.5 x 16.72 m. It consists of two floors from the outside and 15 m from the inside. It consists of one hall, and a door on the back wall leads to the tomb of Celsus. The facade decoration of the building fully reflects Roman architectural features. The four female statues between the front pillars symbolize the elements of reason, destiny, science and virtue, and the origins of these sculptures can be found in the Vienna Museum today.
