The Cankiri Museum, which began operating in a small area in the Community Center building in 1972, became the citys most important and first initiative in terms of museology. The museum, which served here until 1976, continued to serve on August 23, 1981 in the 100 Yale Cultural Center building, Over time with the increase of the works belonging to the museum, the current building became insufficient and the Cankiri government office and courthouse were restored and put into the service of the museum, the museum serves in 3000 square meters closed area and 600 square meters open area, comprising three departments which are the departments of Natural History, Archeology and Ethnography , allows visitors to view very important works in these areas, especially the 8 million-year-old fossil remains obtained from the excavations attract great interest to visitors, at the same time, very important artifacts from the ancient Bronze Age, Hittite, Phrygian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods meet Seljuk and Ottoman visitors.
