One of the Most Powerful Duas for Protection and Fear

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all they cover,
Lord of the earths and all they carry,
Lord of the devils and all they lead astray,
Be a protector for me against the evil of all Your creation,
lest any of them suddenly harm me or transgress against me.
Mighty is Your protection, and great is Your praise.

Full Simplified Meaning

O Allah, You who own the heavens, the earth, and everything,
and even the devils are under Your control,
grant me Your close protection,
and protect me from every creature,
from sudden harm or ظلم (injustice),
for whoever is under Your protection is honored and safe.
You are the Most Great, worthy of all praise.
There is no god but You, there is no refuge except in You.

When is this dua recited?

It is reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to say it in times of fear, especially:

• When entering a new place (travel, hotel, unfamiliar home)
• When feeling danger or threat
• At night, when anxiety and whispers increase
• When feeling unsafe or expecting harm

Meaning:
It is a practical protection dua, said when needed—not limited to a specific time.
