Vasilion Monastery, which is estimated to have opened in 270 AD, was allegedly dedicated to the Prophet John the Baptist in the Bible. Along with Sumela Monastery, it is one of the most visited buildings in the city, and the oldest monastery in the area is Vazillon. It is known that the monastery was restored by Emperor Justinian in 565. The monasteries, Greece and Turkey were completely abandoned as a result of the exchange in 1922. Unfortunately, the monastery, which was left alone with its fate, has suffered severe damage today.
