Nixar Castle, the castle is surrounded by walls with a total length of 11 km, some of these walls have survived to this day. It is known that the first name of the fortress believed to have been built during the reign of the Kingdom of Pontus was Capria. It is believed that additions to the castle were made during the reign of the Danes, Byzantines and Seljuks. Remains of churches and mosques can be found in the castle. The castle was one of the important castles in Anatolia, the school whose ruins can be found in the castle is believed to be the first school in Anatolia.
