The famous Maidan Mosque of Tokat, also known as Khatunya Mosque, is one of the Ottoman works constructed in the name of Gulbahar Hatun, the mother of the 11th Beyazit. For this reason, the mosque is also known as Khatounia Mosque. The date of construction of the mosque, built with cut stones, is known in 1458. Although the mosque was badly damaged in the 1942 earthquake, it has been restored and brought to this day. Although the building was originally constructed as a complex building with a madrasa, over time, the structures outside the mosque have disappeared and only a portion of the mosque remains. The mosques fountain was added in 1913, especially since its magnificent doors, revealed by the art of carpentry, are worth seeing.
