The lighthouse was built by the French in the Ottoman era, so the Ottoman ruins are not visible. The lighthouse measures 82 square meters, and in 1934 the Germans added a whistle to inform the ships. The historic Kirimbi Lighthouse, which became a symbol of the War of Independence in the Black Sea region, is also mentioned in Nazim Hikmats poem titled The Epic War of Independence.
