Kastamonu Castle, one of the most famous buildings in Kastamonu, in a wonderful location overlooking the city, was built by Komnenos in the 12th century AD as a result of the Turkish invasion. It reflects Turkish Ottoman architecture more than a medieval Byzantine castle. There are cisterns, dungeons, escape tunnels and a tomb called Sultan Bayrakli, which is 120 meters high.
