Lava columns, formed a chain of volcanoes that began in Bulgaria and extended to Georgia, when the lava cooled and crystallized, turned into rocks and shrunk as a result of cooling and solidification. The shrunken rock stretched and cracks formed, and over time the cracks became larger and larger. Lava columns, consisting of countertops, pentagons or quadrangular shapes, were formed. They are included in the recommendations of the geological heritage inventory of Turkey and are rare natural formations that occur in the world. The area contains lava columns, with hiking trails, a pier and a viewing terrace and management to attract tourists.
