The small historic church, which is a Byzantine model due to its architecture, was built in the 9th century during the Byzantine period. The church, which appears as a Byzantine chapel in historical sources, was converted into a mosque in the 15th century with the conquest of the area after its use for many years. The church, which had been used as a place of worship for many years, was closed in 1930. The building, which was built of rubble, stone and brick, remained idle for many years. However, the church was restored during restoration work in the Amasra Museum. In 2002, it began operating as the House of Culture and Arts.
