Barhali Monastery is one of the important Georgian monasteries in Artvin. The building known as the Orthodox Church was built between 961-973 and consists of two small churches. Most of the church’s new inscriptions were written in the Armenian language, but did not remain because most of them were deleted. The monastery began to be used as a mosque in 1677 after the Islamic countries took control of the region. The decorations on the walls of the church are particularly striking. The building, which attracts great attention thanks to its stone workmanship, is one of the strongest churches in Artvin. It was preserved in 1987 by the Ministry of Culture and recently restored.
