The historic Ochayak Church is believed to have been built in the 10th or 11th century during the Byzantine period, two churches stand side by side in the area, the dome above the church was destroyed in an earthquake in 1938, it has been confirmed that the church may have been used by emperors during the Byzantine period to make votive offerings. The church was an important center of worship for all three Christian denominations and is among the most important historical places in Kirsehir due to it being the first village church in Anatolia.
