Hasankeyf Castle, built by the Byzantines on the banks of the Tigris River in 363 AD, was used as the center of the Syriac Archdiocese. It is known as the most powerful castle built by the Byzantines in the East. It stands out where it is difficult to capture and is very protected. The building served as an important religious center during this period, for this reason The real name of the castle is Hisno Koyfa, which means Kaya Castle in Turkish. The view of the castle, which is about 200 meters high above the Tigris River, puts the entire city under its feet.
