The museum, named after its owner and founder, Ahmed Orkay, opened in 2005 and displays works from various periods since 3000 BC. It is divided into two parts which are the Department of Archeology and Ethnography, and in particular the Department of Ethnography which contains very rich works. In addition to hand-embroidered clothing, items such as ceramics, brassware, bells, rifles, ottoman swords, watches, scales, and gramophone are on display. Since 3000 BC, among the exhibits are stonework, stonework, and bronze from the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods.
