Uzungaborch, an ancient area that was used as a place of worship in the Hellenistic period. It gained its independence during the Roman period, during the reign of Emperor Vespicianus in 72 AD, and was suppressed in its name, and the Turks began calling it Ozungaburch during the Byzantine period. The colonnaded street, ceremonial gate, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Tyche, Victory Gate, theater and Hellenistic mausoleum of the city allow us to count the area among the historical places worth seeing in Mersin.
