Mersin Archeology Museum, the construction of the museum began in 2014 and opened to visitors on May 18, 2017. The history of the museum dates back to 1978, when it was opened as a small exhibition in the old community center building. 1,435 artifacts are displayed in total, there are also exhibition halls, a childrens park, a library, a souvenir shop and a cafeteria. The museum is designed in a very modern way. Very important historical riches can be found dating back to the reconstruction of Yomrotepe Hill, the ancient city of Soli Pompepolis and the ancient city of Iliusa-Sebasti, which was one of the most important stations of the ancient city during the olive oil production period.
