Yumuktepe Hill is one of the most important archaeological sites in the city center of Mersin. The area has been consistently valued as a settlement by people from the Neolithic period to the present day. The first research in the area began in 1937, after which investigations continued at certain intervals. It turned out to be one of the first places in the region to grow figs and olives.
