The zoo was established in 1986 and is located in the Kepez region and is characterized by the presence of streams and small rivers within it, and it extends over a large area estimated at about 400 acres that includes approximately 856 animals of a hundred species and is considered one of the most important parks of Antalya and the largest parks in Turkey. The park has birds of prey, lions, leopards, tigers, bears, zebras, kangaroos, crocodiles, snakes, various amphibious creatures, parrots, ostriches and flamingos. There is also a place for monkeys, and a very large area for horses.
