It is considered among the most important museums in the world, and is the only groundwater archaeological museum in Turkey. In this museum located inside Bodrum Castle, artifacts extracted from excavations in Bodrum and the surrounding area are displayed, as well as the effects obtained from underwater excavations, the museum was established in 1958, and the museum includes 14 exhibition halls and most of the works on display are amphorae. Some of these flasks are gifts from those interested in the sponge fishing profession, and most importantly the remains of the 1025 shipwreck are on display at the Serçe Harbor Glass Wreck Hall and are known to be the oldest shipwrecked ship in the world. . The museum won a special award for recognition in the Museum of the Year competition held in Europe in 1995 and recorded its success.
