The Great Mosque, built during the Anatolian Seljuk period, between 1272-1277, is one of the largest mosques in Afyon Karaghisar, and one of the unique examples of the Seljuk era with its wooden architecture and glazed brick architecture. The stone roof is covered with a copper roof, and the building is covered with four pillars of thick walls, and the roof is erected on forty wooden columns, eight of them in five rows. The wooden column capitals on wooden poles are segments of stalactites and rhombuses. The first major repair of the mosque was built in 1341 by Muzaffar Dudunoglu Menudun Prince Abdullah Bey and an inscription was placed on the door on the eastern façade.
