The Merić Bridge is one of the most visited among the historical places, as there was a wooden bridge before, when the bridge was damaged by floods, in 1833, Murat ordered to build a stronger bridge here. In 1842, the construction of the bridge, whose foundations were laid, began. Finally, in 1847, the construction of the bridge was completed. The bridge is also known as the Messidia Bridge. The bridge is 263 meters long. Its width is about 7 meters. In the arched part of the bridge, the breezes of Seljuk architecture can be seen. It is possible to see various figures on the bridge, including an 8-point star and a calendar of 12 animals. The bridge stands at 13 feet and waterways are provided by 12 arches. When you cross the bridge to the other side, you can sit in the cafes overlooking the Meriç, eat and drink, and take a pleasant break on your journey.
