The mosque, built by Zagros Mehmed Pasha in 1461, one of the ministers of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, only the hammam remained of it. The mosques dome was demolished in 1897 and rebuilt by Balikesir Governor Omar Ali Bey in 1908, the mosque which appears as a historical treasure, is one of the largest mosques in Balikesir.
