It was built by Sultan Murad I in 1365-1366. Built in the neighborhood, one of the oldest residential areas in the Byzantine Empire, this building is not just a mosque. It also consists of a school, a tomb, a Turkish bath, and a kitchen for the poor. The fact that mosques and madrasas were built on top of each other differs from the classic style of Ottoman architecture in terms of architecture. The shape of the two-storey portico in the mosque is unique in that it cannot be found in any other building.
